Love You, Mean It airs Wednesdays at 10:30PM on E!
“A weekly medley of witty commentary featuring Whitney’s take on everything from the biggest pop culture and celebrity happenings, to life, relationships, sex, and more.”
Let’s get one thing straight before I start talking about the show: I love Whitney Cummings. I think that she’s really funny and if you don’t agree then you should go watch her stand up because that’s where she shines. Also, I don’t think that she’s had that much success in TV up to this point because scripted comedy isn’t really where she belongs. With that in mind, let’s talk about Love You, Mean It. I thought that maybe Cummings had finally found a show that would be a success since it’s more of an unscripted comedy show and that’s where I think that she shines. Well, if you’ve read any other reviews then you’ve seen that many critics wouldn’t agree with my previous statement and apparently haven’t enjoyed Cummings new show or anything else that she’s worked on. Sadly, I partially agree. Maybe it’s because I had high expectations or because I know she’s funnier than the material she was using, but I didn’t enjoy the show as much as I had hoped. There is a silver lining though. Love You, Mean It is a new show. Whitney Cummings could easily tweak a few things and make the show as good as I know it can be. Personally, my favorite segment of the show is called Playback. In this segment she sits with other comedians and talks about clips from reality shows and it’s arguably the funniest part of the show. Not because Cummings is barely speaking, but because the jokes don’t seem forced, they just seem to roll off the tongue. If the mood of that segment could be taken and put into the rest of the show, I think she could have a hit on her hands. I love Whitney Cummings so I really hope this show works out, I’ll definitely be watching and hoping for the best.

Whitney premiered Sept. 22nd and airs Thursdays at 9:30 on ABC.
On the show, she and her longtime boyfriend decide to buck tradition and remain single. The comedy arises from Whitney’s determination to keep the romance alive.
I went into the premiere as a big Whitney Cummings fan, so I’m was already inclined to enjoy the show. As I said in the previous post about Suburgatory, it seems like a lot was cramed into the pilot. There is obvious chemistry between Whitney and Alex (Chris D’Elia) have obvious chemistry, which is probably because they’ve been friends in real life for a while. When asking people what they thought of the show, I’ve gotten mixed reviews. Some loved it, some hated it, and others need to see another episode before they make a decision. I fall somewhere between loved it and I need to see another episode. I have high hopes for Whitney. There were a lot of laugh-out-loud jokes and some that only provoked a chuckle. I’d say that this show is one sitcom that everyone should at least check out and form their own opinion on.
